417xghostbusters__the_video_game-xbox_360screenshots22687gb_7161_copy_copySony has been going through some rough times this generation, and things certainly are starting to look up for them. With exclusives worth ranting about finally coming out in good quantity, and with a potential system seller on their hands at the end of this year, they are bolstering this run of good PR with a press release today from London.

“We’re committed to bringing the PlayStation family the biggest and best gaming experiences first,” says Mark Hardy, European Product Marketing Director at SCEE, “and it doesn’t get any bigger and better than this blockbuster title. This summer, PlayStation owners will be the first to grab their proton packs and fight the spirit world. We’d like to wish them the best of luck in their ghostbusting endeavours and, of course, to remind them not to cross the streams!”

In PAL territories, Ghostbusters will now be published solely by Sony. Whether this will be true in NTSC territories is yet to be seen. The release schedule is that the PS3 and PS2 versions will arrive in June (specifically 19/6) and the PSP version will arrive Autumn this year. The other versions are now up in the air, as Gamespress have yanked their pages for the DS, Wii, and 360 versions. Kotaku says that there will be other versions, but as timed exclusives.

Either way, this is great for Sony: They get an exclusive game which ties in with the Blu-Ray release of the movie it is based on, and even if it is released for non-Sony platforms, they will get a cut of it, being the publishers of the game. And with Sony’s financial situation needing any buoyancy it can find, this can only be good news.

Now all they need is the Yen to crash so their exports are worth more, and they’ll be set.
