Another Video Game Related Killing?

A headline from the Sun Times reads,

“Man charged in slaying of acquaintance while playing X-Box game.”

codA man was apparently charged with first-degree murder this past Sunday, after shooting his acquaintance in his head while playing an X-Box game in Chicago Lawn apartment building three weeks ago. Joseph Johnson, 28, was charged early Sunday with first-degree murder in the slaying of Danny W. Taylor on April 5th, according to police.

While there is no direct correlation to videogames and the slaying, and this Johnson was wanted as a fugitive in North Carolina, news papers still managed to link videogames in simply because the men were playing them.

Supposedly the two men were playing Call of Duty, when an argument erupted between the two. When the arguing started, a woman who is the mother of the victim’s children, went out to the store, perhaps to get away from the arguing. When she returned she saw Johnson running away from the scene and Taylor was sitting with the 360 controller still in hand, game still playing, and a hole in his head.

I understand that the guy was playing a videogame, and I get that the argument that came to may have surfaced because of the game, but did Johnson really kill Taylor over a videogame? Sounds to me like this fugitive is just a cold blooded killer.
